Cold War "Crazies"

After reading about McCarthyism in class, seeing anti-communist propaganda, and reading about the money poured into Europe in an attempt to keep them from falling to communism, what strikes you as the most absurd?  Why do you think America was this concerned about communism?  Does America have a new concern now--if so, what do you think would ever drive us to this point of heightened anxiety again?

When, if ever, is involvement justified???

This is a loaded question, but one you will discover meaning to this unit.  To answer this question, you must first consider a few things:
1.  Who it is being involved--This could be on an individual basis, on a national basis, or even an international basis.
2. What involvement means--Does this include diplomacy, economic aid, an altercation, war?
3.  What perspective justified is coming from--Is this justified from a youth's perspective, an American perspective, a minority perspective?

As we continue this semester embarking on some of America's greater conflicts--World War II, The Cold War, The Korean War, and Vietnam--Please consider this question to grow, learn, and formulate your own opinion about it.  You may even then get to apply this opinion to current events and involvements.
